As a child I had always loved animals and farms. I had dreamed of one day owning my own. In the fall of 2010 that dream became a possibility. My husband and I were able to purchase a tiny bit of land nestled in the "woods", surrounded by acres and acres of woodlands, belonging to thePennsylvania Game Commissionand thePenn Laurel Girl Scouts. A perfect place to start a little MINI farm. And so it begins. My dream came true. And thus My FairyTail has begun.
What started out as just getting two pet goats, has now lead to a small hobby of raising quality Nigerian Dwarf goats. Over the last few years we have learned a lot about raising these cute little 4 legged critters, and what they have to offer in the way of "milk products." We started out with 3 Does and had to find bucks for them. Now we are at 10 does and have 2 of our own bucks. We had just let them "kid" in the barn without knowing what it was like. A lot of people do that, allow nature to do it's thing. But for us we wanted to be a part of it, every step of the way. So my husband built indoor kidding pens in our basement. They are awesome. It allows me to monitor the girls more closely and with the help of video cameras and monitors, I am present at every birth, to just watch or assist if need be.
